Advik's pov
The afternoon sun streamed through the living room window. The usual Sunday afternoon hum of activity filled the air. Dadu and Papa were engrossed in their chess match.
"Ashok," Dadu chuckled, "are you certain about that move? It seems... awfully... predictable." Papa grinned. "Predictable, perhaps, but effective. Unless you have some hidden trick up your sleeve, Dada."
Dadi and Mom were deep in conversation. "Did you hear about Mrs. Kapoor's son?" Mom whispered. "He's finally getting married! To that girl from Delhi." "Oh, that's lovely!" Dadi exclaimed. "Though," she added with a mischievous twinkle, "I heard they had some... astrological complications."
Maya groaned dramatically. "History exam next week! I'm doomed. Time-traveling cats, my only hope!" "No worries babe, You'll ace it," Aditi said.
I was trying to concentrate on my book, but the chatter was distracting. I glanced at Maanvi. She was "reading," but I could tell she wasn't absorbing a word. She had that faraway look she got when she was thinking about something.
I leaned back slightly, catching her eye. She gave me a small, almost imperceptible smile. I smiled back, and we shared a brief, sparkling moment.
I reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. She leaned into my touch, her eyes fluttering closed. I felt a surge of love and affection for her.
Just then, Maanvi's phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen and smiled. "Advik, look," she whispered, showing me a picture of our engagement where I'm talking to one of my investors, maanvi staring at me with a soft smile.
And a sudden message popped out from her friend " did you even blink, or were you trying to photograph him with your eyeballs?"
I chuckled at the message and replied "seems like I gained your whole attention that night" winked at her and in no second her face cheeks flushed.
I leaned in close, my lips brushing against her ear. "You're so cute when you blush, my blushing wife" I whispered.
She bit her inner cheeks to control smiling and playfully rolled her eyes. "Shh, someone might hear," she whispered back. I smiled and returned to my place.
Aarav was, predictably, missing in action. "Where's Aarav?" Maanvi asked Maya.
"Probably causing trouble somewhere," she sighed. "He's been obsessed with his new drone. I swear, he's going to attach fireworks to it next."
Just then, Aarav burst into the room, drone hovering. "Check it out! New maneuvers!" "Aarav, outside!" Mom yelled.
The drone zipped around, narrowly missing a lamp. "Whoops!" Aarav said. "Aarav!" Papa thundered. "That's enough!" Aarav landed the drone hastily. "Fine, fine."
As the commotion died down, Maanvi and I exchanged a knowing glance. Our little moment had passed unnoticed by the rest of the family.
"Urgh!" Maanvi suddenly exclaimed, rolling her eyes good-naturedly. "Aarav, can you please take that thing outside? Some of us are trying to relax."
Aarav grinned mischievously. "Just one more trick, bhabhi!" He proceeded to make the drone do a series of impressive flips and somersaults.
Maanvi shook her head, laughing. "You're going to crash that thing one of these days."
A crash echoed from the kitchen. "Oh dear," Dadi sighed. They rushed in. Dadi's bowl lay shattered. Sheru sat licking his paw. "Sheru!" Dadi exclaimed. Sheru blinked innocently.
"Now, about that drone..." Papa began, but the doorbell rang. "I'll get it," Maanvi said, slipping away.
She returned, looking even more puzzled. "It's for you, Papa. And... it's a bit unusual." She handed him a large, oddly shaped package. "It's... a fishing rod?" Papa looked confused. "A fishing rod? I don't fish."
Aarav piped up. "I do!" He grinned. "I ordered it. For... drone fishing!" Everyone stared. "Drone fishing?" Dadi repeated.
"Yeah!" Aarav explained. "I'll attach a line to the drone and catch... well,uh... maybe carrots first."
"Carrots?" I asked, placing my books down. "Why carrots?"
"They're aerodynamic," Aarav explained. "Fish are slippery."
I looked at him, amused. "Right. Aerodynamic carrots."
"It's still experimental," Aarav said. "But I'm going pro. Maybe a carrot company will sponsor me."
Dadi chuckled. "Only you, Aarav."
Papa sighed. "I need coffee."
Maanvi smiled. Just another day. I shook my head, smiling.

I walked into the study, looking for Maanvi. She was sitting at the desk, sipping a cup of coffee and staring at her laptop screen.
"Hey, what's up?" I asked, dropping a kiss on her forehead.
Maanvi looked up, smiling softly. "Just checking some emails. You're leaving for the office, right?"
I nodded. "Yeah, I have a meeting with the team."
Maanvi's eyes sparkled with interest. "How's the project going?"
"It's going well," I replied. "But I'm going to be stuck in meetings all day."
Maanvi's expression turned sympathetic. "You must be tired."
I shrugged. "I'll be fine. But I was thinking, maybe I can bring home something special for you tonight?"
Maanvi's eyes lit up. "What kind of surprise?"
I smiled mischievously. "You'll just have to wait and see."
Maanvi playfully rolled her eyes. "You're teasing me."
I chuckled. "Maybe just a little."
Maanvi smiled back and handed me my bag. "Here, don't forget this."
I took the bag and slung it over my shoulder. "Thanks. I'll see you later."
Maanvi leaned in and kissed me softly on the lips. "Come soon Advik, don't make me wait so much"
I smiled and kissed her back. "Ohh my Rapunzel,If you make a request like this, how am I supposed to go baby?.."
Giving a gentle peck on her cheek "I'll be back soon sweetheart" she nodded with a smile.
With that,I headed out the door.
